Bare foot driving, Is it legal

Did you know that it is legal to drive bare foot? This means you do not need to wear shoes when undertaking a driving test!

This rule only applies when driving a car (a vehicle that weighs a maximum of 4.5t gross vehicle mass (GVM), built or fitted to carry no more than 12 adults, including the driver).

As a safety measure, we recommend that footwear should be worn when operating all other vehicles including motorcycles and mopeds.
